How to Pledge Kappa

Deciding to make the commitment to pledge a Kappa letter Greek organization will require time management skills, a desire to be in the organization and a firm knowledge of the history and current practices of the organization. A pledge is someone offered a bid to join a Greek organization who has not yet completed the new member activities. Since Kappa is just one of the 24 Greek letters, just one Kappa does not exist; rather, there are many different organizations with the letter "Kappa" in the name.

Instructions

    • 1

Listen to the Pledge Educator, sometimes called the Pledge Master or Mistress, depending on the organization. They will guide you through the pledging process and help you learn about the Kappa letter Greek organization you are pledging into.

    • 2

Learn everything you can about your pledge brothers or sisters, respectively, depending on whether you are pledging a fraternity or a sorority. These people will be your closest allies in the sometimes difficult journey to become a member of a Kappa letter Greek organization. You will be expected to know basic information about your pledge siblings.

    • 3

Study up on the Kappa letter Greek organization's history, songs, rituals and social and political structures. For example, figure out who the executive board is, including the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, chaplain and sergeant at arms, if the organization has those. Acquaint yourself with the current brothers or sisters to get a better idea of the social structure within the Kappa letter Greek organization you are pledging.

    • 4

Complete all of the new member activities that are assigned to you and your pledge class by the pledge educator and brothers or sisters of the Kappa letter Greek organization. Keep in mind that they decide when you complete the new member activities satisfactorily, so listen to what they say and follow the pledging program.
