How to Ask to Pledge in a Greek House

Pledging a fraternity is the process of asking to join a fraternity or sorority that is a part of the Greek system in a college or university. These are male and female fraternal organizations in which that students can become a part by pledging. You must pledge before being selected by a specific Greek house.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up to participate in the recruitment period for your college or university Greek system. This period is often in the first few weeks of a fall or spring semester when classes are in session, and it is commonly known as "Rush."

    • 2

Participate in the events and activities associated with the Greek system recruitment period. You will meet other students who are rushing as well as those who have already been accepted into a Greek house. Get an idea of which houses you are interested in pledging, and people from the house meet with you and try to engage your interest in their fraternity or sorority.

    • 3

Ask to pledge a Greek house at the end of the recruitment period. This process is often conducted by having you list your top three choices of Greek houses. The houses then choose whom they want to accept into their organizations.
