How to Pledge a Fraternity During Greek Week

Pledging a fraternity during Greek Week is rare, but not unheard of. Many fraternities have both fall and spring recruitment periods that end with the pledge process. When this pledge process for a fraternity takes place during Greek Week, it makes for a very activity filled week.

Instructions

    • 1

Be prepared for both your upcoming pledge to your fraternity and the activities that Greek Week will bring. Prior to your pledge day, you are expected to learn all the required information and history about your fraternity, as this will be part of your pledge process or fraternity testing.

    • 2

Stay organized and do as many projects and class assignments as possible in the weeks prior to Greek Week and your pledge ceremony into the fraternity. You will be expected to attend classes, be present at all fraternity chapter meetings and keep your grades up to at least the required grade point average.

    • 3

Attend the events of Greek Week. It's a fun week and you may even be required to be present or even to participate in many of the events that take place leading up to the pledge ceremony. You may have opportunities to participate in community service projects that your fraternity supports. It's a great way to meet people and you'll be making memories that you'll have for a lifetime. Also, you may be required to participate in campus productions produced and performed by the fraternity and sorority members on campus.

    • 4

Take the pledge ceremony into your fraternity with some seriousness. This pledge ceremony is usually towards the end of Greek Week. This ceremony, or "pledging," solidifies your membership into the fraternity. By this time you would have had ample time to learn the "do's and don'ts" and to make a decision or commitment to pledge. Often this pledging ceremony is accompanied by a formal dinner, dance or some sort of celebration.
