Phi Theta Kappa, the largest higher education honor society in the United States, is an international honorary at two-year colleges. Joining it brings certain advantages through the society's various programs and services, such as exclusive transfer scholarships, allowing members to transfer to other institutions; public press releases heralding the member's achievement; letters of recommendation to college admissions counselors, prospective employers and scholarship officials; and a gold seal on diplomas denoting Phi Theta Kappa membership.

Complete at least 12 hours of coursework as a part-time or full-time student in an associate degree program at a regionally accredited two-year institution.

Maintain a 3.5 grade point average.

Receive a letter of invitation from Phi Theta Kappa and attend one of the society's orientation sessions.

Fill out an application form. Return the form, along with the initiation fee, to the chapter adviser of the institution you attend. Return the form by the date established at the orientation meeting.
