How to Join Delta Sigma

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. These civic-minded students understood the value of coming together and providing assistance to people in need. The first public act of Delta Sigma Sorority was to walk in the Women's Suffrage March in 1913. It was incorporated in 1930, and provides leadership, guidance and assistance to all women who are seeking a bachelor's degree and are interested in serving the community. Applying to Delta Sigma is an involved process, which involves the applicant's expressed interest in Delta Sigma activities prior to application.

Instructions

    • 1

See if there is a chapter of Delta Sigma that is active on your campus. Membership in Delta Sigma requires that the enrolled student attend a school with an active chapter. If no active chapter is to be found on campus, the applicant can apply to Delta Sigma as a post-graduate.

    • 2

Attend community events that are hosted by Delta Sigma. Pledges that want to be considered for candidacy are advised to attend community activities that are arranged by Delta Sigma, and to express a keen interest in community service.

    • 3

Achieve at least 24 semester hours, before applying to Delta Sigma, and have a GPA of at least 2.75. You will not be considered for application with anything less: These are the minimum requirements.

    • 4

Attend a Rush Activity. This is an event staged at the discretion of the local chapter and will include all the information on the pledge activities of the local Delta Sigma sorority. Make an application, but do not expect to be accepted immediately. Delta Sigma looks for women who are achieving more than the minimum requirements and will be an asset to the Delta Sigma community at large.
