The Art Institute of Dallas

• The Art Institute is a large organization with schools of noteworthy reputation all over the United States. The Interior Design program at its Dallas school is considered one of the best in Texas. The school offers associates, bachelors, and masters degrees. It is accredited by the Council for Interior Design (CIDA), and has an International Interior Design Association (IDA) student group. AI of Dallas has an excellent placement history for its interior design students. The Art Institute also has two schools in the Houston area and one in Austin. The Houston school is accredited in Fine Arts by the CIDA.

Stephen F. Austin State University--Nacogdoches

• Stephen F. Austin’s Interior Design program is part of its School of Human Sciences. The program is accredited by both CIDA and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). The University offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Interior Design. It is one of the largest programs in the state and is recognized as one of the best. The school has an experienced faculty and a very successful list of alumni.

University of North Texas--Denton

• The University of North Texas (UNT) has grown from a School of Visual Arts with a design program to a College of Visual Arts and Design. The program is accredited by both CIDA and NASAD. There is also a student IDA group on campus. The college has very high standards for enrollment and uses a two-step portfolio process, yet still receives a high number of applications. There are both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The faculty is well established, and many alumni are distinguished in the field.
