The Best Acting Schools in the U.S.

Many schools offer degrees--both undergraduate and graduate--in acting and drama. Students in these programs usually learn acting techniques and a basic understanding of drama and narrative. Classes often include script interpretation, voice, character analysis and body movement. While some schools are devoted exclusively to acting, many are programs within larger colleges and universities.
  1. Yale University

    • The Yale School of Drama is one of the highest rated acting programs in the country. The department educates students in speech, voice and textual analysis. In addition to offering undergraduate and graduate programs in acting, it has its own repertory theater and cabaret company. Founded in 1924, the drama school counts the actors Frances McDormand, Tony Shalhoub and Liev Schreiber among its many famous alumni.
