  1. Abilene Christian University

    • Located in West Texas, the University offers a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design that is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. The program is designed to explore interior design theory and design process techniques using problem solving methodology with emphasis on human needs, values, context and resources. The Art and Design School has large studios, modern computer labs and specialized classroom spaces.

    Texas State University

    • Texas State University is in San Marcos in central Texas. The Interior Design Degree is offered by the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. It teaches students about concept development, sketching, drafting, space planning, stylistic history and design theory, materials and construction, life safety codes and business practices. It also aims to create an atmosphere of respect for the environment and to provide students with the maximum opportunity for intellectual growth and creative expression.

    The University of North Texas

    • The University of North Texas in Denton offers a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design that is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. Students learn about human behavior and environmental needs for better design of commercial and residential interiors, drafting, computer-aided design, lighting, green and sustainable design, 3-D modeling, cultural and historical design, and the history of furniture and architecture. The university has a 90,000-square-foot art building that includes classrooms, computer labs, faculty offices, studios, a workshop and a Visual Resource Center. Students have to complete an approved internship as part of the program.

    Baylor University

    • Baylor University in Waco is a Christian University that aims to provide both academic excellence and Christian integrity. Its Interior Design course allows students to explore the relationships between people and space, as they learn how to design commercial, institutional, recreational and residential facilities. Students develop competency in specific interior design subject areas such as graphic communication, theory, lighting, environmental technology, interior materials, and interior construction systems as they learn how to creatively solve interior design problems.
