While there are no two-year community colleges in Shawnee County itself, there are schools with two-year programs in Topeka, Kan. These include Washburn Institute of Technology, where you can take classes in conjunction with coursework at the university to obtain an associate's degree, and Bryan College.       Bryan College has three locations: Topeka, Springfield, Mo., and Rogers, Ark. The school promotes itself as a place to study only courses directly related to your career, with "no unrelated classes." Students can graduate in 60 to 80 weeks. Bryan College's degree programs include business administration and management, computer information systems, computer network specialist, exercise specialist, gaming and robotics, medical assistant and personal trainer.

    • Allen Community College's online classes bring education to you wherever you are.

      Iola, Kan.-based Allen Community College also has a campus in Burlingame, 25 miles south of Topeka. "A student can complete one of four associate degrees on campus in Burlingame---Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science or an Associate of General Studies---with a focus on many majors," according to Anne Baer, director of outreach student services. In addition to classes offered in the classrooms at Burlingame, online courses are available.

    • If you can't come to classes on campus, Highland Community College's online learning brings the classes to you.

      Highland Community College, the first college founded in Kansas, has a campus at Perry, about 15 miles east of Topeka. Students can complete associate degrees in arts, general studies and sciences. Besides classes offered at the Perry campus, Highland Community College also offers online classes.
