Dodge City Community College offers two-year associate degrees in arts, science, nursing and applied science with credit hours transferable toward bachelor degrees at a wide variety of liberal arts and technical schools. The college offers more than 30 educational programs including agriculture, business, education, graphic arts and mass communications to approximately 1,700 enrolled students, as of the 2010 fall semester. The college offers students an on-campus housing option that includes room and meal plans and financial assistance is available. An activities card can be purchased for admittance to college-sponsored sporting events and a number of cultural enrichment programs promoted by the arts department.

Garden City Community College grants associate degrees in more than 40 disciplines and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Regular courses are taught in 16-week cycles for more than 2,100 enrolled students, as of the 2010 fall semester. The 70-acre campus is located 51 miles west of Dodge City, Kansas, and also offers adult learning and general education courses. On-campus housing includes two dorm options and an apartment-style living complex. Meal plans are also available. Students can apply for financial aid or loans through the school's endowment program, which disperses more than $350,000 annually.

Barclay College is a faith-based, four-year college in Haviland, Kansas, approximately 58 miles from Dodge City. It offers courses in ministry, theology, psychology and family studies, elementary education and business administration. The school provides a high faculty-to-student ratio with an enrollment of just 250. Housing, meal plans and financial assistance programs are offered. A high percentage of students are involved with campus activities, including athletic teams in four sports--men's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's basketball.

Wichita State University is a public, four-year Division I college located 165 miles east of Dodge City, Kansas. It has an enrollment of more than 14,000 students, as of the 2010 fall semester, and has 92 fields of study across seven colleges--education, engineering, fine arts, health professions, liberal arts and sciences, pre-professional and business. It has a 20-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio and offers both undergraduate and graduate coursework.
