Tusculum College is a private college located in Greeneville with an enrollment of approximately 2,200 students. The college also has campuses in Knoxville, Morristown, and the Tri-Cities, all in Tennessee. Founded in 1794, the college is the oldest in Tennessee. Tusculum offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Programs offered by the college include art & design, museum studies, sport management, and religious studies. The university has three campuses, two of which are near Greeneville, 30 miles away, in Johnson City, while the third is in Kingsport. East Tennessee State features a number of colleges, including the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the Claudius G. Clemmer College of Education, and the James H. Quillen College of Medicine.
Founded in 1970, Walter State University is a community college located in Greeneville, but it also runs campuses in Morristown, Seviereville and Tazewell -- each of which is in Tennessee. The college calls itself "the Great Smoky Mountains Community College," and is home to about 6,800 students. Walter State offers a number of degree programs aimed at either preparing students to enroll in a four-year university or to enter the workforce such as business management and information technology.
Milligan College is a private Christian college located approximately 30 miles from Greeneville, in Johnson City, Tennessee. The origins of the college go back to 1866, but it did not become a college until 1882. The college has an enrollment of about 1,000 students, 81 percent of whom live on campus. The college offers more than 25 degree programs and three master's programs. Bachelor's programs include art, accounting, education, bible studies, nursing, Spanish and sports management.
