One vocational school in Victorville is the Mojave Barber College. This college is for people who want to learn to be a barber. The skills that students learn in the program are how to shave and trim facial hair on customers, cut and style hair, fit hairpieces, and give facials and scalp massages. When students complete the program, usually in less than two years, they will be able to receive a professional barber license from California. Students can receive federal aid to go to Mojave Barber College in the form of Pell Grants and other financial aid programs. The college is small; there were 46 students in 2007. Students do have to pay an undergraduate application fee when they apply to the school.

The program has two parts--classroom instruction and supervised clinic experiences--and it is certified by the Bureau for Private Post-Secondary and Vocational Education and the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences. Financial aid is available for students to attend Victor Valley Beauty College in the form of federal Pell Grants or federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants. Neither of these financial aid programs requires students to pay the money back once they graduate. Loans for tuition are also available, which students do have to pay back after graduation. It's located in Apple Valley, California, which is a 15-minute drive from Victorville on California-18 East. At Apple Valley Career College, class sizes are small--18 students or less--and teachers are able to give one-on-one instruction throughout the program.
