    Lawson State Community College

    • Lawson State Community College offers a 23-credit hour short certificate program, a 52-hour long certificate program and a 75-hour Associate in Occupational Technologies degree in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration. All programs include introductory courses covering the basics of HVAC systems and elective courses on special topics in HVAC. Associate in Occupational Technologies students also have the opportunity to complete a minor in a related field. Graduates of the HVAC program are qualified for employment in the installation and repair of residential and commercial HVAC systems.

    Bevill State Community College

    • Located about 25 miles from Birmingham, Alabama, Bevill State Community College provides coursework toward a two-year Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology degree. This Associate in Applied Science degree includes core general education coursework, as well as 52 credit hours in the HVAC concentration. Other options include the long-term certificate, which is 55 total credit hours, and the short-term certificate, which is 25 total credit hours of HVAC concentration courses only. Graduates are prepared for entry-level jobs as technicians installing, maintaining and repairing climate control systems.

    Cullman Area Career Center

    • The Cullman Area Career Center is a career and technical preparatory high school located about 50 miles north of Birmingham, Alabama. High school students wishing to pursue a career in HVAC can obtain a high school diploma from Cullman Area Career Center with an endorsement in Building Systems Technology. Specific HVAC courses offered at Cullman Area Career Center include Introduction to HVAC, Compression Refrigeration, Heating and HVACR Controls. Students are also given the opportunity to complete the requirements for Freon Recovery Certification and to earn up to 12 hours of college credit in HVAC at Wallace State Community College.
