Schools for Medical Records Keeping

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the demand for medical records or health information technologists will increase by 20 percent from 2008 through 2018, resulting in the creation of 35,100 new jobs in the field. Employers typically prefer to hire medical records keepers with a post-secondary degree or certificate, preferably from a school approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Managers (CAHIIM). Throughout the United States, a number of schools offer CAHIIM-approved programs.
