Automotive and Diesel Technical Schools

    • Founded in 1919, Nashville Automotive-Diesel College is a post-secondary institution that is a subsidiary of the Lincoln Group of Schools. Associate degrees and certificates are offered in automotive and diesel programs. The automotive program covers various areas including fuel, electrical and emission systems, diagnostics and transmissions. Upon graduation, students can work at automotive repair and service shops as service writers or repair and retail shop managers. Diesel engines, truck brakes, chassis, diesel fuel systems and hydraulics are areas that are covered in the diesel training program. Graduates can work at bus and train station repair shops, in mining and construction firms and at automobile retailers. Part-time and full-time course schedules are available. Job placement, interviewing and resume writing services are offered through the college's Career Services department. Financial aid is available through grants, scholarships and student loans.     Wyotech

    • Wyotech's automotive academic track covers automobile electrical systems, emissions equipment, electronics, engine management systems, transmissions and hydraulics. Graduates can work as welders, service and repair technicians, engine builders, emissions control testers and shop managers. Areas covered in the college's diesel training program include power trains, engines, electrical systems, heavy duty torque converters, heavy duty clutches, steering alignment and transport refrigeration. Graduates of the diesel training program can work at locomotive service and repair shops, or as fleet and parts managers, service advisors or engine builders. Certificate and associate degrees are offered at the college in both the automotive and diesel academic tracks. Wyotech is recognized by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. Financial aid is available through federal work study programs, grants and student loans. Wyotech has campuses located in Laramie, Wyoming, Blairsville, Pennsylvania and Daytona, Florida.     Ohio Technical College

    • Ohio Technical College's High Performance automotive training program offers students an Associate in Applied Science degree. Areas covered in the program include engine design, electrical, ignition and fuel systems, welding and sheet metal fabrication. Graduates of the program can work as automotive parts installers, service writers and automotive repair shop technicians. The school's Complete Automotive training program focuses on auto racing, including turbo charging, super charging, performance braking and nitrous. Graduates of the Complete Automotive program can work as race car technicians and automotive retail store technicians and shop managers. Full-time students can complete their degree in one of these programs in 18 months. Ohio Tech also offers a certificate through its BMW Fast Track training program. Engine performance and repair, electric and electronic systems, BMW chassis systems, transmission, suspension systems and BMW technical systems are topics covered in this training program. Graduates of this program receive an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) BMW Fast Track certificate from the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Coursework can be completed within a year, and graduates are qualified to work at BMW dealerships and at general automobile repair shops. It takes 18 months to complete Ohio Technical College's diesel mechanics course. Fuel injection, trailer refrigeration, electrical systems and chassis and drive trains are areas covered in the training program. Post-graduation, students can obtain their commercial driver's license (CDL). They can also work as diesel repair technicians. Financial aid is available through grants and student loans.
