Trade Schools in Berkshire, Massachusetts

Berkshire County is a large regional area in the westernmost portion of Massachusetts. There are a number of trade and vocational schools in and around the region that offer training and certification in multiple disciplines. Nearly all of the schools offer some sort of financial aid to students who qualify, however, rates and availability vary by location.
  1. Mildred Elley School

    • Located six miles outside of Berkshire, the Mildred Elley School is a small vocational institute where students learn skills and earn certification in a variety of technical fields. Mildred Elley School offers academic programs in

      business management, cosmetology and criminal Justice and security. The school also has training programs for massage therapy, medical assisting and paralegal studies. Courses are taught through a combination of book work and lecture, as well as hands-on training and internships. Most programs can be completed in as little as one year.

    Berkshire Community College

    • Berkshire Community College is a large technical and academic institution that offers specialized training and certification in a number of vocational fields such as culinary arts, massage therapy and medical assisting. Berkshire has extensive facilities and equipment for each of these fields, such as a large professional kitchen for culinary students. Many academic courses. While the college does not offer job placement, it does have a number of transition services in place for students about to enter the workforce.

    McCann Vocational Technical High School

    • The McCann Vocational Technical High School is a specialized high school that gives students two complete educations: a traditional academic education and specialized training in technical field. McCann has first rate facilities and programs in fields such as automotive design and repair, carpentry and computer-assisted design. Other programs include culinary arts, information technology and machine technology. Students typically choose their vocational focuses at the end of their first year of school, then take introductory courses in that field during their second and third years. The final year is spent in part at a local internship in that field and developing interviewing, resume and college application skills in their desired field. Students from across Berkshire area are eligible to apply for enrollment, though space is limited.
