Paul Mitchell The School offers an 11-month (daytime) or 18-month (evening) training program for students interested in hair styling. Students take part in classroom training plus hands-on work with members of the community who come for discounted hair services. Topics include multicultural techniques, makeup, cutting, facials, nails, design, coloring and the art of hairdressing. The school is located within the University of Illinois, occupying a dorm offering a recreation center and campus housing. Graduates receive job placement assistance and access to short-term Paul Mitchell training courses.

Coyne College is a trade school offering diplomas and associate degrees in a variety of fields, such as heating, air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical construction and planning or electronic systems technician. Diplomas are a 1-year course of study including classes such as electrical principles, fire-life safety, home theater systems and building automation.
