Founded in 1978, the Court Reporting Institute has become one of the largest court reporting schools in the country. It has campuses both in Houston and Dallas, and also offer online programs for those who need a more flexible schedule. The school offers only an Associate of Science in Court Reporting, meaning all of its resources and faculty are in place to help further one academic pursuit. The program is designed to help students prepare for certification as a court reporter in the state of Texas. This includes teaching the student to type 225 words per minute in machine shorthand as well as developing their foundation in grammar, legal terminology and computer transcription. The program lasts 120 weeks.

Medvance Institute was founded in 1970 in Tennessee, offering a program for aspiring medical laboratory technicians. Since then, the school has grown to offer 10 campus locations and several dozen courses in various medical fields. It has two campuses in Houston: a North campus and a South campus. Both locations offer programs to help students become medical assistants, medical billing and coding specialists, medical office administrators, sterile processing technicians and surgical technologists. Aspiring students can fill out an online application and then be invited to meet an admissions counselor on campus.

The Houston School of Floral Design was started in 1980 and is located in the Preserve office park complex. The school is a little different from other academic houses in that it does not test students and it does not issue grades. The school offers completion certificates after a student has successfully completed one of its courses. These courses and classes include Introduction to flower arranging, wedding arrangements and event planning. Each of the certification program is sanctioned by the Texas Workforce Commission.
