Students must attend an orientation program before classes begin. Students without high school diplomas or GEDs can talk to an admissions counselor about adult education classes; these students can enroll in certificate programs if they score well on the placement exam. Louisiana Technical College offers a dual-enrollment program that allows high school student to earn credit while still in school.

    Remington College – Lafayette

    • Remington College – Lafayette, Louisiana Campus offers associate degree and diploma programs in pharmacy technician, medical billing and coding, electronic technology, medial assisting, criminal justice, cosmetology, and computer and network administration. Students interested in the pharmacy technician program must undergo a criminal background check before they begin taking classes. The enrollment process includes making an appointment with an admissions representative and scheduling a tour of the campus where you will learn about programs and financial aid. Once you meet with a representative, submit an application and proof of high school diploma or GED. You must take a standardized entrance unless students already have an associate degree at an accredited college.

    Acadiana Area Career College

    • Acadiana Area Career College is a member of the Louisiana Career College Association and the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana. This Lafayette technical college provides medical certificates for dental assistant, EKG technician, medical office assistance, medical insurance and coding specialist, and phlebotomy technician. You don’t have to schedule a tour of the campus; you can visit Mondays through Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Representative will talk to you about each degree program, current class schedules and financial assistance offered at the college. You need a high school diploma or GED to enroll in any of the programs. It takes four to 10 weeks to complete each program.
