Technical Schools in NW Arkansas

Northwest Arkansas is known best as the heart of Ozark Country and the land of crystal clear waters and fine fishing. But education also plays an important role in the region, and several institutions serve the population, including some technical colleges. These schools offer a quick, direct path to a career in certain fields that require a great deal of technical knowledge.
  1. Arkansas Tech University

    • Founded in 1909, Arkansas Tech University is one of the fastest-growing universities in the state, according to the school's web site. The school provides a technical education to more than 8,500 students each year on two campuses---a main campus in Russellville and a satellite campus in Ozark. The university offers six associate's degrees and more than 40 bachelor's degrees. The four-year degrees are in majors such as computer science, accounting, information technology, medical technology, nursing and secondary education. The Ozark campus also offers several certificate programs that do not lead to degrees. The university has a sports program. The teams compete in NCAA Division II, where the men's and women's basketball teams each won the Gulf South Conference championship in 2010.
