    • The Dental Hygiene Program at Seattle Central Community College is fully accredited. The program requires 182 credits for graduation---60 of them prerequisite credits and the remaining 122 major-subject credits. Students can start the program in the fall quarter only but can work on their prerequisites during any quarter. Prerequisites include classes in chemistry, English composition, human anatomy and physiology. The school selects only 20 students to start the program every fall quarter. Students must intern at the Seattle Central Community College Dental Hygiene Clinic. Licensed dental hygienists supervise students as they provide dental services to adults and children.

    Shoreline Community College Dental Hygiene Program (Associate Degree)

    • Located just 15 miles from downtown Seattle, Shoreline Community College offers a dental-hygiene program. Shoreline accepts only 24 students per year. Students must take prerequisite courses and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 for each course. Successful applicants have the opportunity to access state-of-the-art technology the college has such as digital X-rays, dentrix scheduling, Perioscope, extra-oral and intra-oral digital imaging and more. Students also simulate situations that occur in dental clinics during their training.

    Eastern Washington University

    • Eastern Washington University provides licensed dental hygienists an opportunity to expand their knowledge at an extended campus in Lakewood, just 30 miles from Seattle. The expanded program has no clinical component because it emphasizes the expanded roles of dental hygienists as researchers, health educators and more. The curriculum concentrates more on theoretical application than fact retention. Students must take 61 credits of dental hygiene coursework and liberal arts.
