The College of Southern Idaho offers an eight-week program. Composed of 80 hours of in-class education and 40 hours of clinical hands-on training, students learn the skills and techniques necessary to take the national examination. The program focuses on basic nursing skills, personal care skills, patient rights, as well as mental and social service needs of patients. As of Spring 2010, the cost for the program was $425 with about $60 to $80 for books and materials. Classroomsare limited to 15 students per course, and a course is offered each semester. Idaho State University offers a certificated nursing assistant program to introduce and train the student to take the Idaho placement state registry. Students will receive classroom instruction and CPR training, and they will learn from clinical experience at a health care facility during this 129-hour program. Idaho State University highlights that the pass rate for their students on the state certification exam is close to 100 percent. Lewis-Clark State College offers a certificated nursing assistant course through its workforce training program. This program gives students the option of attending courses on campus or through an online hybrid option. The on-campus option is broken down into 80 hours of instruction and 40 hours of clinical training. Through the hybrid option, students complete their instruction through the school's online system. Students need to meet with the instructor for seven classroom sessions to practice skills and are required to complete 40 hours of supervised training within an approved facility. Students are required to complete an eight-hour CPR training course with either option. As of January 2010, the cost of the class and books came to $535.
