  1. The Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics

    • The Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics (IUD) offers five different courses--a one-week course, three-week course, three-month course, one-year course and a vascular course. The one-week courses focus on continuing education and are ideal for sonographers that lack formal training. The week-long courses have three different sessions: physics and instrumentation; vascular and abdominal; and obstetrics/gynecology. The one-year program is geared towards abdominal and obstetrics/gynecology sonography. Prerequisites for entry into this course include a high-school diploma or GED; SAT or ACT test results of 800 or higher and 17 (composite) or higher respectively; and graduation from a 2- to 4-year allied health program. The institute's vascular program is designed to optimize a student's knowledge of sonography use for the carotid arteries, peripheral veins, peripheral arteries and the abdomen. IUD has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
