Wallace State Community College offers an associate of applied science degree in diagnostic medical sonography. Wallace State Community College has received accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The program also has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Students in the program must complete 24 credit hours of general education courses such as orientation to college, English and general psychology. Major required courses include sonographic terms, sonographic anatomy and abdominal pathology. Since 1966 Wallace State Community College has provided higher education to students and as of May 2010 had an enrollment of 6,000.

Keiser University has a diagnostic medical sonography program that leads to an associate of science degree. Students in the program must complete 91 credit hours to graduate from the course. Of those credits, 65 credit hours are core courses, and general education courses comprise the remaining 26 credit hours. Core courses include cross-sectional anatomy, clinical rotation, superficial structures and neonatal brain, and vascular sonography. Keiser’s diagnostic medical sonography program located in Daytona Beach, Florida has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Keiser has multiple campuses in Florida with the main campus located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Grand Valley State University offers a bachelor of science in radiologic and imaging sciences. The program has three areas of concentration, including general diagnostic medical sonography, diagnostic medical sonography with an echocardiography emphasis and radiologic sciences. The schools college of health professions governs its diagnostic medical sonography program and the program has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Students applying for the program must have an associate degree from an accredited university and have completed the program’s prerequisite courses prior to admission. Courses in the program include anatomy and physiology, algebra, trigonometry, statistics and introductory psychology.
