WIA Ultrasound Programs

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) was signed into law in August of 1998. The legislature was designed to help adults get vocational and technical training; people who qualify for the program are afforded funds to complete such training programs. Sonography, often referred to as ultrasound, is one area in which WIA participants can choose to become trained in. Several ultrasound programs across the United States accept WIA funded students.
  1. Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics

    • Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics offers a variety of ultrasound training courses, including a one-year program approved for WIA funding. The program emphasizes abdominal and OB/GYN synography, and also affords clinical rotations in vascular, echocardiography and neonatal neurosonology. Clinical requirements are completed at local hospitals, outpatient clinics and mobile health-care units. Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree, preferably in a health related field, or be a graduate of an allied health program. As of 2010, programs start each year in January and June.
