Ultrasound Technology Programs in Tennessee

Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to generate images for the assessment of a medical condition. Ultrasounds are used to monitor the growth of a fetus during pregnancy, to locate kidney stones, and to collect images of the heart, lungs and intestinal tract. Ultrasound technicians are responsible for this portion of the treatment of patients. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that there will be a 19 percent increase in employment for sonographers and ultrasound techs by 2016. There are several schools in Tennessee that offer instruction in ultrasound technology, both on campus and online.
