The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are widely considered to be the No. 1-ranked engineering institutes in India. Five IITs were established in the 1950s, and the number had grown to 15 by 2010. All the IITs offer undergraduate degrees in chemical engineering, and these are among the top-rated in the country.
