The Top AIEEE Colleges

If you want to enter an undergraduate program in engineering in India, you need to pass an All India Engineering Entrance Examination, or AIEEE, exam. All major engineering colleges and universities in India accept the AIEEE as a part of their assessment of the candidates' applications to enroll in a specific engineering program.
  1. IIT Kanpur

    • According to a 2010 rating of India's top engineering colleges conducted by The Times of India, a newspaper, the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur is the best engineering school in India. Accordingly, it is very selective in whom it accepts as students, and you need to have a high AIEEE score to be considered a candidate. Undergraduate courses in engineering include a four-year Bachelor of Technology, or B Tech, and a five-year Dual Degree Program leading to the degrees of B Tech- M Tech, along with the five-year Master of Sciences, MSc, programs.

    ITT Delhi

    • The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is another top engineering college. Like others, it also accepts AIEEE results. IIT Delhi has 13 departments, 11 multi-disciplinary centers and two schools of excellence, offering a total of around 700 courses. The university is known for its undergraduate programs that award students a Bachelor of Technology degree, the Dual Degree Bachelor-cum-Master of Technology degree and an Integrated Master of Technology degree.

    IIT Madras

    • The Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, a city also known as Chennai, is located in southern India. The university was established in1959 with the help of the government of Germany. In 2010 it had nearly 460-strong faculty, 1250 administrative and supporting staff and 4,500 students. The school has about 100 laboratories. IIT Madras has 15 academic departments and a number of advanced research centers in various disciplines of engineering and pure sciences.

    IIT Kharagpur

    • The Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur is officially recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the government of India and, according to the Times of India, is regarded as one of the best engineering institutions in that country. At 2,100 acres, IIT Kharagpur's campus is the largest among all IITs. The school also has the most departments, and the highest number of students, with about 4,500 undergraduate and 4,600 postgraduate students. IIT Kharagpur also accepts AIEEE results.
