With a total student population of approximately 1,600, students at Southwestern Community College can enjoy convenience of locations in Creston, Osceola and Red Oak, Iowa as well as courses available on-line. The junior college is accredited with The Higher Learning Commission and offers programs ranging from nine months in length to two years. The athletic department at Southwestern Community College offers baseball, cross country, men's and women's basketball, golf, softball and volleyball. There is a career counseling center on campus as well as financial aid available through the financial aid office to students who qualify. With three locations in southern Iowa to choose from, students attending Indian Hills Community College have convenience above all else. The junior college prides itself in the "open admission" policy, which means every student that fills out the application for admission correctly will be admitted to the school. Students can fill out an application on-line via the school's website and send it that way, or they can print off the application for admission from the website in a PDF format and mail it to the junior college. The Indian Hills Community College has three degrees: the Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.) and the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S). Some of the academic divisions are arts and sciences, health occupations and skill-building courses.
