You must also complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and receive a minimum score of 60 in science, math, English and reading.

    J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College

    • The associate's degree nursing program at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College prepares students for careers in health care. The college offers core requirement classes during the day and evening. Although clinical placements are also available during the day and evening, clinical-related courses must be taken during the day. Before applying to the nursing program, you must meet numerous prerequisite requirements. You must have a high-school diploma with credits in chemistry, biology and algebra. You must complete the Pre-Nursing and Allied Health Career Studies Program with a minimum grade C average. This program is a 26-credit certificate program that is also available through the college. Upon completion, you must take the Kaplan Nurse Admissions Test and obtain a minimum score of 45 in both reading and math.

    Virginia Commonwealth University

    • The nursing program at Virginia Commonwealth University offers several paths for completing the undergraduate degree. The traditional bachelor of science degree is a three-year program beginning each fall. It is available for individuals in pursuit of their first undergraduate degree and prepares them for nursing careers through a combination of classroom learning and clinical placements. In addition to application forms, you must submit ACT or SAT scores for consideration. Prospective students with unrelated bachelor's degrees may apply to the accelerated program. It is a five-semester program that begins each summer.
