    • Champlain College offers four-year bachelor of science degree programs with majors in graphic design and digital media, game art and animation, game design, and web development and design. These programs combine liberal arts and science coursework with theoretical instruction and practical hands-on application. Classes include drawing, form and color, design and communication, digital interactive multimedia, typography, computer theory, marketing, systems analysis and design, database and web development, 3-D art and modeling, animation and game development and conceptual game design.

    Bennington College

    • Bennington College is a private liberal arts school that offers a bachelor’s degree in visual arts. Student may choose from a variety of concentrations, including architecture, art history, ceramics, digital and media arts, drawing, film and video, painting, printmaking, sculpture and photography. The program also requires students to participate in an annual seven-week internship with a professional artist, museum or gallery. Coursework includes the history of architecture, architectural graphics, ceramic techniques and applications, digital narratives, physical computing, film history and production, digital animation, 2-D design, photographic methods and processes, and digital imaging.

    University of Vermont

    • The University of Vermont offers two design minors at the undergraduate level. The minor in green building and community design explores the application of design principles to ecological solutions such as renewable energy, natural architecture and building, and ecological landscape design. Coursework includes drafting and drawing, solar technologies, renewable energy alternatives, sustainable community development, straw-bale and cob building design, permaculture and landscape restoration. The minor in applied design emphasizes practical hands-on training in digital and print communication. Coursework includes drawing, digital illustration, advertising, visual communication and applied computer graphics.

    Community College of Vermont

    • The Community College of Vermont offers a two-year associate of art degree program with a major in graphic design or visual arts. Both programs require general education coursework in English, writing and communication, mathematics, history, social science and psychology. Graphic design coursework includes 2-D design, digital photography and imaging, advertising, website development and flash animation. Visual arts coursework includes drawing, ceramics, sculpture, art history and studio art practice. Graduates from both programs may choose to transfer their credentials toward a four-year bachelor’s degree at a college or university.
