Founded in 1948, Salt Lake Community College is a public community and technical college in Utah's capital city of Salt Lake City. Today, the two-year college includes solar photovoltaic (PV) installation training as part of its continuing education division. Salt Lake offers two courses in PV design and assembly that prepare students for the national board certification examination. Students learn how to size battery banks and create electrical and mechanical designs in Basic Solar PV Installation, a 30-hour course that combines classroom instruction with practical application. Salt Lake students follow the basic course with advanced studies in Advanced Solar PV Installation.
