The focus of training is designed to familiarize students with basic aerodynamics and the "how and why" of helicopter operations. The training concentrates on basic flight maneuvers, aircraft communication and airport traffic patterns.
The students continue to improve on their basic flight skills. A student is also taught proper flight planning and emergency procedures along with navigation.
The students learn the skills necessary to pass the oral, written and flight tests given by the FAA to those seeking a helicopter pilot's license. Rules and regulations are emphasized during this training period.
The average student requires between 30 and 53 hours of flight instruction. The average cost ranges from $11,850 to $19,428. Financing options such as scholarships and loans are available.
