Nursing students who are interested in studying abroad at Augsburg College can choose to participate in programs in Namibia and Nicaragua. The Namibia option is a two-week program geared towards educating nurses on the challenges that face health care providers in a developing country. The Nicaragua option lasts 10 days; the program gives nursing students the opportunity to explore indigenous health care and how it relates to Western health care.

Nursing students at the University of Michigan have the opportunity to participate in a summer study abroad program in London through Michigan State University. Students will temporarily be enrolled in both schools for the program. The four-week program awards students six credit hours that cover nursing education in the United Kingdom as well as historical and social development in the practice of nursing. Students will also participate in independent nursing study in London.

The University of Virginia School of Nursing has study abroad opportunities in a variety of countries, such as: Denmark, New Zealand, Ireland and Italy. The duration of these programs and the semester in which they take place changes every year. Exceptional nursing students can participate in the summer study abroad program in South Africa. These students will observe how environmental factors influence health in rural South Africa.
