The University of Queensland offers a master's program in physician assistant studies (MPhysAsstSt) that trains students to work under the supervision of a physician performing general medical practice, diagnosis and therapeutic treatment on patients with disease. Courses in the program include primary care medicine, aged clinical care and internal medicine. Clinical rotations take place in various hospital departments including internal medicine, emergency room, surgical, aged care and general medicine. Students may choose two clinical rotations in the discipline or area of their preference. Students can complete the program in 1.5 years.

The Wits Centre for Rural Health at the University of the Witwatersrand offers a two-year physician assistant degree called a bachelor's of clinical medical practice. The program began in January of 2009 in partnership with the school and the National, North West and Gauteng Departments of Health. The program prepares graduates to manage and assist adult and pediatric patients in hospital wards and emergency and casualty departments. Students participate in clinical training at the South Rand Hospital in Gauteng or Lehurutshe Hospital in North West. The North West Provincial Department of Health has continuous clinical associate positions available for graduates of the program.

The School of Health and Wellbieng at the University of Wolverhampton offers a two-year postgraduate diploma in physician assistant studies. Prerequisite education includes a degree in a life science discipline, such as biochemistry, nursing, biology or medical science, with a minimum 2.2 grade point average. Courses in the program include pharmacology, clinical practice, primary care and clinical practice basics. Students participate in clinical studies such as hands-on practice and observed structured clinical examinations. Students may take an additional year of coursework to obtain a master's of science degree (MSc).
