International Physician Assistant Schools

Physician assistants pose a solution to rising health care expenses and doctor shortages in areas around the globe. A report in the Journal of Physician Assistant Education, "The Globalization of the Physician Assistant Profession," indicates that as of 2007 both U.S. and internationally trained physician assistants serve under the supervision of physicians in hospitals and clinics in seven countries abroad: Australia, Canada, England, the Netherlands, Scotland, South Africa and Taiwan. With the exception of Scotland, each country offers at least one training program ranging in length from 24 to 36 months to complete.
