Physician Assistant Grad Schools

Physician assistants examine and treat patients, order and analyze laboratory tests, diagnose health conditions, prescribe medication and treat injuries by using stitches, splints and casts. Physician assistants perform all duties under the supervision of a doctor or surgeon. Graduate schools offer master degrees for physician assistants. Prior to practicing medicine, they must pass a national exam and be licensed by the state medical board.

    • Harding University offers a master's degree in physician assistant studies and the graduate school program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. The program is 28 months long and students will study physical diagnosis, Christian bioethics and clinical pharmacology. Criteria for admission includes a bachelor's degree in any discipline, scores from the GRE test, a minimum GPA of 3.0 and knowledge of medical terminology.

    Midwestern University

    • Midwestern University, located in Glendale, Arizona offers a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree. Graduates of the physician assistant program will have knowledge in recognizing common diseases, interpreting diagnostic studies and interpersonal skills. Clinical rotations include emergency medicine, primary care, internal medicine, women's health, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery. The program is 27 months long and admissions require a bachelor's degree, minimum GPA of 2.75, GRE scores and completion of prerequisite courses.

    Pace University

    • Pace University offers graduate students a master's degree in physician assistant studies. Graduate students learn about evidence-based medicine, gross anatomy, professionalism and psychosocial medicine. All applications to the physician assistant program at Pace University are processed through the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA.) Admission criteria for CASPA include a bachelor's degree, official school transcripts, three letters of reference and a narrative.
