Ask the student to do some research. A student can talk to other students about different college programs that they may have attended in the past. They can also get recommendations from teachers who may know of a program that will interest the student.
Speak to a counselor at the student's high school. The high school's guidance counselor can help you find a college program that is suitable for your student. Set up a meeting for the three of you to discuss the student's options.
Browse the college's website to see the summer program offerings. If your student has been accepted to a certain college, check out its website to gain insight into any pre-college program offerings.
Research information about summer programs on other websites. If you are looking for more general information on college summer programs, use the ASA programs Web site (see Resources below) and look under pre-college programs or summer programs.
Check out community college offerings. If you can't find anything available at a four-year university, see about a summer program or camp at a local community college.
