GED Requirements in Indiana

The GED is a general equivalency diploma and gives adults who did not get a high school diploma the chance to earn the credential. The test covers five individual subject areas that encompass the knowledge that you are expected to learn and know in 12th grade. In order to take the GED in Indiana, you must meet several conditions.
  1. Age

    • You must be 18 or older to take the GED exam.

    Residency

    • You must be a resident of the state of Indiana to be eligible to take the exam in the state.

    Education

    • You cannot take the GED exam if you have previously graduated from high school.

    Time

    • You must wait at least six months after you have left the high school program or curriculum before you can take the GED exam.

    Scores

    • Each of the five sections is scored from 200 to 800 points. You must get at least 410 points on each section, for a minimum total of 2,050. You can take the exam as many times as you need until you get a satisfactory grade.
