A number of the UK's universities offer studentships in the area of Materials Science at a Ph.D. level. Courses vary considerably but many involve the study of steel, polymer and composite technologies or subjects such as metallurgy, biomaterials or nanotechnologies, with students often becoming involved in developing the materials we use in everyday life, using cutting-edge processes.
