Kuwait University

• Established in 1966, Kuwait University is one of the most prominent universities in the nation. With 14 colleges in a wide array of fields, the university offers the opportunity for students to pursue degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Programs include studies within the colleges of medicine, law, engineering, education, Islamic studies, the sciences, pharmacy, the arts, business, dentistry and allied health sciences.

American University of Kuwait

• Founded only recently in 2003, American University of Kuwait is a private liberal arts institution that seeks to equip students with a broad education modeled on the American educational model. According to the university website, it seeks to provide students with personal growth experiences, self-awareness and knowledge to enhance critical thinking, effective communication, and respect for diversity. The school has three primary divisions: business and economics, humanities and the arts, and the sciences and engineering.

Gulf University for Science and Technology

• Gulf University for Science and Technology, which was established in 2002, is a private university that was founded primarily to be a supplement to Kuwait University. The university has an ongoing partnership with the University of Missouri at St. Louis. The university currently has two primary divisions, the college of arts and science, along with the school of business administration.

Arab Open University

• Arab Open University is a private university that was founded in Kuwait in 2002. The university is actually located on several Middle Eastern campus locations, which include Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, and Oman. The school currently has three primary areas of study: language studies, information technology, and computing and business. The university was primarily founded as an institution for Arabic-speaking people.
