Ph.D. Programs in Physiotherapy

A Ph.D. in the field of physiotherapy (more commonly known as "physical therapy" in the United States) can prepare you for a career in physical therapy research and education. The standard degree for practicing physical therapists is the Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) degree, which is a practice-oriented degree. A Ph.D., on the other hand, is a research-oriented degree. Schools usually offer the Ph. D. degree in conjunction with the D.P.T., or in some cases, a closely related field like exercise science with a physical therapy emphasis.
