The University of Alaska Fairbanks offers a dual master's degree program that combines an Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in creative writing with the Master of Arts (MA) in English and/or literature. Creative writing choices are fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry or screen writing, and that MFA can be combined with a series of literature and theory classes and literary specialties expected of the MA students. This leads to a graduate strongly versed in theory, literature, and the creative practice of writing.
This is a good program for students who are interested in research, academic papers, teaching and creative writing, instead of only choosing only one area and limiting themselves to that.
