Master's Degree Programs in Bioinformatics

The field of bioinformatics has grown as hospitals and universities attempt to organize genetic information. Students in graduate bioinformatics programs learn how to create biological databases useful in studying and curing diseases. Master's degree programs in bioinformatics mix advanced courses in computer programming, statistics and biology. After completing such a program, graduates can look for work at university laboratories, medical research companies and government agencies.
  1. Johns Hopkins University

    • The Advanced Biotechnology Studies Program at Johns Hopkins University offers a Master of Science degree in bioinformatics. Students pursue this degree through traditional classroom settings and an online program conducted at three satellite campuses. This bioinformatics program features core courses in molecular biology and genomic analysis required before dissertation research. Johns Hopkins works with the U.S. Army, BD Diagnostics and Noblis to provide research fellowships to bioinformatics students. The Annual Research Symposium through the Advanced Biotechnology Studies Program allows graduate students to present their research to the public.
