  1. ANSWER Scholarship

    • The Andersen Nontraditional Scholarship for Women's Education and Retraining scholarship are given to women over 25 who are the primary caregivers of at least one school-age child. Applicants must be enrolled or will enroll in a two-year program for a nursing degree or a four-year degree program of their choice. The amount awarded varies, but in the past it has ranged from $1,200 to $4,000. The award is sent directly to the recipient's college to pay for tuition, fees, books and supplies.     • OASES, the University of North Carolina-Charlotte's evening program, offers many scholarship opportunities for nontraditional students, including the Osher Re-entry Scholarship; the Fran and David Taylor Nontraditional Scholarship; the Sarah Hoadley Wilson Scholarship; the National Association of Women Business Owners-Charlotte, which is for $1,000 for a qualified nontraditional student; the James S. McCormack Rotary Scholarship; the Virginia D. Bufkin Scholarship; the Friends of UNC Charlotte Scholarship; and the Nontraditional Student Organization scholarship. The amount of these scholarships varies, but the general qualifications are that you must be a nontraditional student enrolled at UNC in Charlotte who demonstrates academic potential. Additional requirements may exist depending on the program for which you apply. Most applications are available online at between May 1 and June 1.

    Denny's Hispanic Single Parent Student Scholarship

    • This scholarshipfor Hispanic students offers each recipien between $500 and $1,500. To qualify for this scholarship, you must be enrolled or planning to attend a college or technical school full time, be of Hispanic background, demonstrate financial need and your single-parent status, and have a previous GPA of at least 3.0.
