How to Apply for University Maintenance Grants

Local Education Authority, LEA, is an educational organization in the United Kingdom that allows you to receive grants as a part of the Children Act of 2004. Through the organization, you can apply for a maintenance grant along with multiple other grants, such as dental hygiene, radiography, speech therapy, nursing and chiropody, according to the Merlin Helps Students website. You can apply to your local LEA not only for support with your tuition fees, but also for money to help yourself throughout the academic year.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact the LEA by telephone. Ask the representative that you would like to apply for a maintenance grant. They will send you a maintenance grant application in five to seven business days.

    • 2

Complete the application form in its entirety, ensuring you do not leave out any relevant fields. The amount you receive largely depends on your income, your parent's income and/or spouse's income. This can help the LEA members assess if you are eligible for the grant.

    • 3

Get approval from the LEA. They will then send you a financial form for you to fill out and return.

    • 4

Wait for a receipt from the LEA, which contains how much they will be contributing to your tuition fees.
