Colleges Offering Soccer Scholarships

The rising costs of education leave many prospective students looking for assistance to pay for their studies. One option is to pursue a sports scholarship. Currently, the NCAA allows schools to provide funding equivalent to the cost of 9.9 full scholarships for men's teams and 12 for women's teams for schools that fall under the Division I bracket; smaller Division II schools have the opportunity to offer the equivalent of nine full scholarships for men and 9.9 for women.

    • Prospective soccer players for the Indiana University Hoosiers men's soccer team may qualify for scholarships based on both their academic and athletic skills. The team is based out of the Bloomington campus of the school and games are held at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium, with a seating capacity of 6,100. Undergraduate degree options include arts and sciences, music, business, law, education, health sciences, nursing, optometry, technology and social work.

      Undergraduate tuition costs at Indiana University average $18,000 per academic year, as of 2010. In addition to soccer scholarships, financial assistance is available.

    Auburn University

    • Students interested in playing soccer for the Auburn University Tigers women's soccer team have the opportunity to earn scholarships to play the sport while studying at the school. A part of the NCAA's Southeastern Conference, the Tigers play their home games at Auburn Soccer Complex, which has a seating capacity of 1,500. Bachelor's degree options for students include agriculture, business, education, engineering, human sciences, nursing and forestry and wildlife sciences. Students interested in further education have the opportunity to pursue a graduate degree in pharmacy or veterinary medicine.

    • Duke University offers soccer scholarships for both its men's and women's teams. The Duke Blue Devils play at the Koskinen Stadium, in front of crowds of up to 7,000 fans. Students at Duke University have a wide variety of academic options for undergraduate studies including engineering, arts and sciences, environmental studies, public policy and education. In addition, students may pursue ether their law or medical degree through the School of Law or the School of Medicine.

      Students entering Duke University during the 2010-2011 academic year can expect tuition and fees to average $50,000 per year. Soccer scholarships and additional financial aid options are available.
