Radiology Programs in Arizona

Radiology programs provide students with the education and training they need to become effective radiologic technologists. Under a physician’s direction, radiologic technologists perform medical imaging examinations for diagnostic purposes. Radiology programs are available in Arizona that prepare students for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists examination.
  1. The Bryman School of Arizona

    • The Bryman School of Arizona has a practical technologist in radiology program that leads to an associate of applied science degree. Students who complete this program are trained as entry-level practical technologists. Students are required to complete an unpaid externship that takes 14 weeks and requires students’ participation for five days per week and eight hours per day.

      In this program, students are taught about the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology as well as disease processes that affect the body systems, especially the skeletal and respiratory systems. Students also become certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

    Central Arizona College

    • Central Arizona College's radiologic technology program is designed to be completed in six semesters over two years. Students are admitted in the spring semester, and their education and training qualify them to become entry-level radiographers. This program requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours each week plus homework.

      Before entering the program, students must complete prerequisite courses in introduction to health, health care law and ethics, and medical terminology. In program, students take courses in the fundamentals of radiologic science and patient care, patient care in radiologic sciences, radiation physics, and radiobiology and radiation protection.

    Arizona Western College

    • Arizona Western College offers a radiologic technology program that is designed for completion in two years of full-time study. Students earn an associate of applied science degree and are prepared for the national registry examination to become certified as a radiologic technologist. Graduates are eligible to be trained in specialized imaging modalities such as ultrasound, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, special procedures and magnetic resonance imaging.

      Twenty students are admitted into the program in the summer semester each year. Courses include introduction to radiography and patient care, intermediate radiographic procedures, radiographic anatomy and physiology and patient care in imaging technology.
