Middlesex University has a degree program in herbal medicine that begins in October of every year. Students can complete the program in three years on a full-time schedule or can opt to pursue the degree on a part-time schedule over the course of five years. This course teaches students how to view the body as a whole and examine how each part of the body affects another part. Courses include an introduction to complementary and alternative medicine, herbal therapeutics, nutrition and lifestyle management, approaches to research, professional skills development and professional practice management.

The Scottish School of Herbal Medicine has a degree program in herbal medicine that teaches students the traditional approach as a way of life to herbal medicine. Throughout this program, students will have tasted over 150 herbs and develop an in-depth knowledge of each one. This program is designed to be completed in four years; over the first two years, students will study herbal science, physiology, pathology and anatomy. Upon graduation, students will receive their degree from the University of Wales. Throughout the course of the program, students participate in one five-day summer school session that takes place in August of each year. Students also participate in a total of 12 weekend teachings that take place between October and June on every third weekend. Courses include physiology and holistic health, nutrition and practical pharmacy, herbal therapeutics and differential diagnosis.
