The University of Louisiana at Monroe, commonly called ULM, is a four-year school. It offers several undergraduate degree programs as well as a few graduate programs. ULM is the only public university in Louisiana with a Pharmacy program, and it also offers MBA programs. The college first opened in 1931 as Ouachita Parish Junior College, and in 1999 became ULM. The school's mascot is the Warhawk, and its sports teams compete in the NCAA Division 1.
Louisiana Delta Community College is a 2-year public college that is part of the Louisiana community college system. The school offers Associates of Arts degrees in a variety of subjects. LDCC first held classes in 2001 after being charted by the state legislature in 1997. The Monroe campus was just completed in 2010 and the school also has campuses in Tallulah and Lake Providence. LDCC is fully accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Louisiana Technical College has over 24 locations across the state of Louisiana. The Delta Ouachita Campus in West Monroe is part of the college's region 8. The primary goal of the school is to provide students with job skills; it offers programs in a wide array of technical fields including automotive, electrical and drafting. They also offer medical training such as EMT, nurse's aid and laboratory technician programs. Certain programs can lead to the award of an Associate of Applied Science degree.
