The University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music has state-of-the-art facilities, updated in 1999 for $93.2 million. The Division of Composition, Theory, History and Literature focuses on composing and analyzing music. The composition program offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs. The conservatory also offers summer-abroad programs in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, China and Italy.
Admission to the College Conservatory of Music is competitive. Admission season is from Sept. 1 through Dec. 1. The music composition program requires undergraduate candidates to submit to an interview rather than an audition, as required for admission to other areas of music study at the conservatory.
